The 2024 CHH Championship

2 day knockout tournament with a 2 week qualifying round.

 A chance for all past, present and future Heavy Hitters to have an annual get together and watch the

final on the Sunday 22nd September at 1pm.

 

Tournament Dates:

  • Qualifying Round (Bottom 16 players) - Thurs 5th Sept – Wed 18th Sept

  • Players organise themselves as per League Rules and Regulations.

  • Home players randomised

  • Home players organise balls/court as per CHH Rules and Regulations

  • 8 Winners advance 

  • Round of 16 - 10am Sat 21st Sept 2024 - Top 8 seeds playing 8 qualifiers

  • Quarter Finals - N.B. 1pm Sat 21st Sept 2024

  • Semi Finals - 10am Sun 22nd Sept 2024

  • ·Final and 3rd Place Match - N.B. 1pm Sun 22nd Sept 2024

Entry Criteria:

  • Top 24 Heavy Hitters to register will be seeded.

  • Open to any Heavy Hitter who has completed aCHH league in the past year. (Including CHH Leagues: 2023 Spring/2024 Summer/2024 Autumn/2024 Winter)

  • Players must have a UTR, and be rated 9.0 and below, 3.0 minimum.

    • Players will be seeded by UTR, updated right up until rego dealine.

    • Top 8 players will advance to R16 on the tournament weekend.

    • Bottom 24 players will play a qualifying knockout round in the 2 weeks leading up to the tournament weekend.

Surface/Location/Balls:

  • Tennis World Canberra

  • Hard Court

  • Slazenger Advantage Hardcourt Balls

 Match Format:

  • Best of 2 tiebreak sets - normal scoring.

    • Match super tiebreak (first to 10, win by 2) if 1-1 sets.

Tournament Format:

  • Single stage – Single Elimination Knockout

  • Does not count towards UTR

  • There is no back draw

Registration:

  • Rego Opens Mon 15th July 2024

    • All registrations will go into a waitlist ordered by UTR.

    • At rego deadline, top 24 players will then have 3 days to pay rego fee by payment deadline.

  • Rego Deadline 8pm Sunday 1st September

  • Rego Fee $50

  • Payment Deadline 8pm Tuesday 3rd  September

Prizemoney:

  • 1st/Champion: $500

  • 2nd/Runner Up: $200

  • 3rd Place Winner: $100

Rules and Regulations (R&Rs):

Everything to do with how qualifying matches are organised is covered by R&Rs, as per they are in the leagues.

  • Matchplay/Match Rules/Time Limits as per R&Rs part 10 and 11 – including Golden Rules.

  • Commitment and Availability in Qualifying Round as per R&Rs - Players must be are available on average 3 days/week to play their qualifying match. These days must fall on weekends and weekdays

  • Home player Responsibilities – as per R&Rs Part 4, can choose which surface to play on in qualifying round.

  • Communication during match organisation – as per R&Rs part 6.

  • Protocol for Non-Contactable Players – as per R&Rs part 7b – instead of a no-contact forfeit, non-contactable player may be substituted with the next player in the substitutes list.

  • Match Attendance and Punctuality – as per R&Rs part 8.

  • Trophy Presentation/Media Obligations – as per R&Rs part 14a

  • Expected Parent/Guardian Conduct – as per R&Rs 15a-e

  • Etiquette and Poor Behaviour Reporting – as per R&Rs 19-20

  • Administrative Action – as per R&R 25 – poor conduct during this event will impact participation in future CHH events.

PLAYERS CONTACT LIST DETAILS

Qualifying Round Players will be sent players contact list via WhatsApp group and email.

Players must check their contact details and email CHH if any changes are required otherwise no-contact forfeits may apply during the league.

COMMUNICATION - WHATSAPP

WhatsApp Message is the primary means of contacting your opponents so players can see when their opponent has read their message, however players can alternatively use SMS.

CHH uses WhatsApp for league management and communication. It's free to download and is encrypted/safe to use. Look it up and download in the AppStore or on Google Play. You can ‘mute notifications’ in WhatsApp for specific groups so use this feature if it help keep the notifications less distracting.

Players will be invited to the below groups before registration closes.

  • CHH Event Group (Compulsory):

    This Event Group is the primary way CHH will contact players with important updates during the league.

HOME PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The ‘home’ player must initiate contact the week before the scheduled match.

  • The ‘home’ player must supply new balls.

  • The ‘home’ player will arrange court bookings on a good quality surface and pay all fees (players can share lights fees)

  • The ‘home’ player must submit match results on the Challonge league site after their match.
